About this test

The punctuation typing test drills the marks that break most people's rhythm: commas, colons, semicolons, quotation marks, apostrophes, brackets, question marks, exclamation points, hyphens, and dashes. These characters often need the Shift key or awkward finger stretches, so they're a common source of hesitation and error even for quick typists. The sentences here are written to pack in realistic punctuation without feeling artificial, so you practice the exact patterns you meet in emails, essays, and chat. Because punctuation frequently rides on the Shift key, this test is also quiet shift-key training. Slow down at the tricky marks, keep your hands anchored on the home row, and let the awkward reaches become automatic — smooth punctuation is one of the clearest signs of a polished typist.
