About this practice
Common English words practice concentrates on the small set of words that make up most of what anyone actually types. A few hundred high-frequency words — the, and, that, with, because — account for a huge share of everyday writing, so making them automatic delivers an outsized speed boost. Instead of scattering your effort across rare vocabulary, this drill repeats the words your fingers will type thousands of times a week until they flow without thought. That frees your attention for what you're actually writing. Keep your rhythm even and resist looking down; the payoff is that ordinary emails, messages, and documents start to feel effortless. It's some of the most efficient practice available because you're training exactly the motions you use the most.
How to use it
- Type the high-frequency words with a steady rhythm.
- Let the repetition build automatic muscle memory.
- Keep your eyes on the screen and look ahead.
- Repeat sets until the common words feel effortless.
