About this test
The 2 minute typing test measures how well your speed survives once the novelty of the first few seconds wears off. Two minutes is long enough that concentration, posture, and small fatigue start to matter, so the result tends to sit a little below a fresh 15 or 30 second burst — and that's exactly the point. This length rewards a sustainable rhythm over a sprint. Keep your eyes on the upcoming words rather than the keys, breathe normally, and let your hands settle into a pace you could hold all day. The consistency score becomes genuinely meaningful at this length, so use it to see whether you speed up and stall or hold a steady line.
How to use it
- Click the typing area (or just start typing) to focus it.
- The timer starts the moment you press your first key.
- Type the text exactly as shown; correct characters turn green, mistakes turn red.

Frequently asked questions
How is WPM calculated?
One word is defined as five characters. Gross WPM = characters typed ÷ 5 ÷ minutes; Net WPM uses only correctly typed characters. See our methodology page for details.
Is 120 seconds long enough for an accurate score?
Yes. A minute or more averages out lucky and unlucky moments and gives a stable, comparable result.
Does accuracy affect my WPM?
Your headline WPM is the Net WPM, which counts only correctly typed characters, so mistakes lower it. Raw WPM ignores accuracy.
Is my typing sent anywhere?
No. Your keystrokes and results are processed entirely in your browser and are never uploaded to our servers.
